Board Passers Commended

To recognize their achievements in passing their respective board examinations and
to laud them for the honor they have brought to their Alma Mater, a testimonial luncheon
was held for the new Sebastinian Registered Nurse, Certified Public Accountants,
Certified Management Accountants, Psychometricians, Engineers, Electronics Technicians,
and Criminologists at the Multipurpose Hall, Main Campus on February 22.
This was preceded by the Eucharistic Celebration held at the Saint Sebastian Chapel,
which was presided over by Campus Minister Rev. Fr. Antonio C. Zabala, Jr., OAR.
Honorees and guests proceeded to the Multipurpose Hall after the Mass for the program
proper, which started with the welcome remarks and rationale from Mrs. Maria Soledad
T. Tubay, Director for Institutional Advancement, Parents and Alumni Relations.
Mrs. Tubay explained that the testimonial luncheon was held to recognize the board
passers for their contribution to their professions and to the institution, to celebrate
their budding careers, and to congratulate their parents who helped them to persevere.
The board passers were then awarded certificates of recognition by their respective
Deans, and afterwards a representative from each group spoke about the insights they
had gained from taking and passing their examinations. Their responses had recurring
themes: that of gratefulness to God, to their teachers, and to the School; and the
hope that their accomplishments would also bring recognition to San Sebastian College-Recoletos
de Cavite. Many also spoke of the difficulties they had to overcome.
School President Rev. Fr. Rafael B. Pecson, OAR spoke next, and delivered a short
message to inspire the new professionals. He mentioned the book titled "All I Really
Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum, which underscores the
fundamentals of life.
Fr. Pecson gave three attributes that the board passers should have to be successful,
namely humility, obedience, and wisdom.
The next speaker, Dean Jennifer B. Escobar of the College of Arts and Sciences, congratulated
the Sebastinian achievers and urged them to do their best in their future endeavors.
She used a story to illustrate the value of knowing what's truly important, and she
encouraged the board passers to reflect on this.
Mr. Jerome Salvador served as master of ceremonies.
