Dante N. Peralta II
“Tatak Rekoleto: Pagpapakilala, Pagpapalalim at Pagpapayabong sa Pamayanan ng Sebastino."
This was the theme for the first ever Tatak Rekoleto Festival held in honor of the
founding of the Order of Augustinian Recollects. The event kicked off with a Eucharistic
Celebration and program at the Recoletos 4th Centennial Gymnasium, December 5.
In his homily, School President Rev. Fr. Rafael B. Pecson, OAR said that to know
oneself was "the key, the road to wisdom." He underscored that people cannot know
God nor appreciate the strengths of others without first knowing themselves. He added
that the three ways to know oneself are to know who we are not, to know who we really
are, and to know the reason why we are here.
The program commenced after the Mass with Mr. Reynaldo G. Geronimo, Institutional
Coordinator for Culture and Arts, serving as master of ceremonies.
The Embahador Cantante de San Sebastian debuted as they led the body in the singing
of the National Anthem and SSC-R de Cavite Hymn. The chorale also rendered "Baila
Sebastino," the official song of the Tatak Rekoleto karakol festival.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Dexter D. Palagtiosa, OAR, Vice President for Formation, Mission
and Identity, delivered the opening remarks and explained the rationale. He said
that the event tests students' "ability, creativity, and belief in themselves."
JPIA, karakol tilt champ
The eagerly awaited karakol competition followed with SHS, JFINEX, READS, JPIA, Executives,
CAS, NARS, CITES, and AHA all vying for various local honors.
In addition to the local and interschool competitions, there was also a guest performance
by students from the Sacred Heart School of Cavite-Recoletos de Alfonso.
Cavite National High School (SHS) triumphed in the interschool competition with Saint
Mary Magdalene Parish School and Cavite National High School (JHS) finishing second
and third respectively.
In the Karakol sa Kalye, READS took home third place; CITES, second place; and JPIA,
first place. The standings were the same for best production design.
In the end, JPIA emerged the champion for the second consecutive year. READS was
this year's runner-up, and CITES placed third.
